Copy an HTML contact form that emails you with no server code

An HTML contact form can send email without any server code by posting to a form backend. Set the form's action to FormThunder's submit URL, add your access key as a hidden field, and each submission is stored and emailed to your verified address. After sending, the visitor lands on a success page, or on your own page if you set a redirect.

Updated

The HTML code

contact.html
<form action="https://formthunder.com/submit" method="POST">
  <input type="hidden" name="access_key" value="YOUR_ACCESS_KEY">
  <input type="hidden" name="subject" value="New message from the website">
  <input type="checkbox" name="botcheck" style="display:none" tabindex="-1" autocomplete="off">

  <label for="name">Name</label>
  <input id="name" name="name" required>

  <label for="email">Email</label>
  <input id="email" name="email" type="email" required>

  <label for="message">Message</label>
  <textarea id="message" name="message" rows="5" required></textarea>

  <button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>

Replace YOUR_ACCESS_KEY with your free key. It's public by design, so it's safe in client code.

Notes for HTML

  • A field's name becomes its label in the email, so company_size reads better as Company size. Spaces in names are fine.
  • email is special: it becomes the sender's address on the submission, and replies go to it unless you set replyto.
  • Add <input type="hidden" name="redirect" value="https://yoursite.com/thanks"> to send people to your own page after a plain form post.
  • The hidden botcheck checkbox is a honeypot. A bot that ticks it gets a normal-looking reply, and the submission goes to spam.

Or have your AI add it

Connect the MCP server, then ask. The agent creates the form and writes the code for you, and it can send a real test when it's done.

Questions

Can HTML send email by itself?

No. A browser can't send email on its own, and mailto links just open the visitor's mail app. A form backend receives the POST and sends the email.

Is the access key safe in my HTML?

Yes. It's public by design and can only send to addresses you've verified on your account.
